HBR RECEIVE STANSTEAD AIRPORT PASSENGER COMMUNITY GRANT (PRESS RELEASE MAY 2017)

Stansted Airport was able to help Hertfordshire boat rescue with a grant from it’s community fund. This funding has meant that the team have been able to purchase a new rescue sledge and the team this will mean the team will be ready to respond to any flood threat or water incident in the local area to the area.

Steve Edwards, Chair of the Stansted Airport Passenger Community Fund, said: “The Stansted Airport Passenger Community Fund is delighted to be able to support such a worthwhile organization which provides a vital water rescue service in Hertfordshire. The Fund has been able to raise thousands for local charities over the last decade, thanks to donations from passengers using the airport.We want to ensure that charities and community groups in the local area benefit as much as possible from being close to the airport.”

Hertfordshire boat rescue is a totally volunteer service and all funds have to be collected through grants such as this one and the generosity of public donations to enable to team to continue its work. The team is always looking for new members and these are both operational and non-operational.

Stuart Foreman (Chairman) said “It is fantastic news to be awarded this grant by the Stansted Airport fund and means that the team is able to respond to flooding incidents in the area much quicker and will also be able to educate the residents in Bishop Stortford and surrounding areas on water safety.
